Vole Damage

Vole Damage

Protect your lawn and plants: Effective vole control for a healthier yard!

Voles (also known as field mice) can wreak havoc in a yard by gnawing on plant roots, creating a network of surface tunnels, and eating away at the stems and leaves of grasses and other vegetation.

Surface Tunnels: Voles create shallow, crisscrossing tunnels just below the surface, which results in visible lines or ridges on the lawn. These tunnels kill the grass above, leaving trails of dead, brown grass that can be unsightly. These tunnels become most evident in the early spring as the snow begins to melt.

Root Damage: Voles eat plant roots, which can not only kill grass, but other plants as well. This damage to the roots makes it harder for plants to absorb nutrients and water. Which may lead to the death of the plants or lawn. Beware: Tulip bulbs are one of their favorite things to eat. Daffodils are a much better choice if you have a vole problem.

Not even your trees are safe: In winter, voles often chew on the bark of trees and shrubs, girdling them and causing serious harm or even death to young trees and shrubs.
